Whenever you add a domain as hosted in some account, you typically set a pair of Name Servers to direct it to that specific service provider. On their end, three records are created automatically as soon as the Internet domain is added - one A record and two MX records. The former is a numeric address, or IP address, which “tells” the Internet domain where its site is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they show the server that deals with the e-mails for that particular domain address. The site and the e-mail hosting are usually considered to be one thing, while they're in reality two different services. Having different records for them will enable you to have them with different companies if you'd like. As an example, some new service provider may have excellent uptime for your website, but you might not want to switch your e-mails from your current host and by using an A record to point the domain name to the former and MX records to have the e-mails with the second, you could get the best of both providers. These records are checked when you wish to open a site or send an e-mail - either way, the service provider whose name servers are used for the domain name will be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you have set records different from their own, the correct web/mail server will then be contacted and you will see the needed site or your e-mail is going to be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Shared Hosting

The Hepsia hosting CP, which comes with each and every shared hosting we provide, will allow you to view, modify and create A and MX records for every domain or subdomain inside your account. Using the DNS Records section, you are going to be able to see a list of all hosts inside the account from a to z with their related records, so any update isn't going to take you more than a few clicks. Creating new records is just as simple if, for example, you wish to use the e-mail services of another provider and they ask you to set up more MX records than the default two. You can even set the priority for every MX record by setting different latency. Quite simply, when your e-mails are delivered, the sending server will contact the record with the smallest latency first and in case the connection times out, it'll contact the next one. Using our innovative tool, you're going to be able to handle the records of your domain names and subdomains effortlessly even when you have no prior experience with such matters.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

The Hepsia hosting CP, which comes with our semi-dedicated servers, will allow you to view the A and MX records for every one of the domains or subdomains in your account and if needed, to update any of them or create new ones. Handling these records is quite easy because all domains/subdomains will be listed alphabetically, so editing a record is as easy as entering it in a box and saving the change. Setting up a new one takes just a couple of more clicks and if you experience any troubles, you can check out our educational videos on how to create A and MX records. Our system is intuitive enough to be used by people with little or no previous experience, yet advanced enough to provide you with complete control of all records and to allow you to have different A records even for domain.com and www.domain.com. If you're switching your e-mails to a different provider and they ask you to set up more than two different MX records, you can select the priority of each one.
